In Search of the Char Siew - Part 1

Bright an early on a Satruday morning, my parents and I decided to go all the way to Jalan Alor to try out this supposedly amazing Char Siew featured on the TV show "Ho Chiak"
Meng Kee Char Siew.

So, we drive drive drive through KL traffic, park the car and set off in search of this char siew place.
Initially we got a little lost - thankfully there was a woman giving out flyers saying that Meng Kee has relocated to another shop lot.

Ta daa! As seen on TV.

The Char Siew.
Doesn't look like anything extraordinary right?
The char siew was tasty but what gave away its "crispy-ness" was that you could taste the texture of sugar granules on top of the char siew, which is quite a turn-off actually.
It kinda sticks to your teeth while you eat it (some people say its good some don't really like it.)
I think out of 10-15 pieces I ate only ONE was mind-blowingly-amazing and that was because there wasn't any sugar granules + it was crispy + it was fragrant and tasty.
Noms-ed.

And steam chicken to accompany the lonely char siew.

Overall I say, there's better char siew out there.
And I know where you live..I mean, I know where to eat you.
I'm referring to the char siew of course :)
