Okay I admit, my blog posts have been horrible - I apologize. I'll write better blog posts now okay? :)
-------------------
Merdeka this year wasn't as patriotic as it used to be. There wasn't much hype about celebrating Malaysia neither did I see as many cars with Malaysian flags on it. Strange.
Then again it might due to all the political unrest and hoolabaloo that's been happening which resulted in a more..quiet Merdeka this year.

Malaysia and I have a love-hate relationship.
I love Malaysia but I dislike so many, many, many things about it - the system, the public transport, the healthcare. The reason I dislike it is firstly because of its standards. They don't seem to want to try harder to make things better when they obviously have the skills and facilities to be far better than status quo.
But what makes my blood boil all the more is that Malaysia has so much potential in terms of its resources and great minds to be so much greater than we are yet because of selfishness and greed, the rakyat are left to live in Malaysia as it is.
Hmph.
Yet I love you, Malaysia.
Because Malaysia still has culture (whatever little is left of it at least). Despite what people may say, there is racial harmony. Besides the culture, how can anyone not appreciate Malaysian food? It is aweeeesome!
But the best part about living in Malaysia is that we have a night life that doesn't involve clubbing or drinking alone. You can go out at any time of the day (or night or midnight) and still find foodstalls open and a place to hang out with friends to sit and talk.
Having been overseas, this is what I miss most about Malaysia - not being able to go out to a mamak to just chill. And it speaks volumes about Malaysia's sociological dynamics as well as culture yet so few people realize it. It speaks of bonds between people, the love and experience that people share, the community, the family that is not blood related. And some people term this as the "Mamak Culture" and rightly so.
But the most important thing about this love-hate relationship I have with Malaysia is that I must remember to have hope. To believe that Malaysia can be better than what it is and to be that the change that I want to see in this country.
Change doesn't start with the authorities, it starts with you and I.

a very personal post. i like it :)
:) thanks!
wonder when they'll stop MCI issues n live together as one despite the differences in culture.
@nana: well, they seem to try doing that with the whole 1Malaysia thing but I don't think their sincere enough in doing it cause they still have UMNO, MIC and MCA. Ridiculous.
when we start identifying ourselves as Malaysian that might be a good start :)
to me, they were just trying to *publicize to the world but in implementing the spirit.
to put it in a harsh way, even the nation couldnt accept the coalescence. *selfish*
on top of that, if they do really want to achieve 1M, there should be no priorities given to anybody. everybdy should share the same priority. BUT sad to say, IT WOULDN'T be achieved.
personally, i did enjoyed being v my grp of frens, malay n indian =) miss those childhood time wen i used to be makan nasi lemak using hands v them XD
@nana: with the way their running the 1M campaign, don't think it'll achieve the true meaning of 1M - its just a cover up to distract people from the bad things that are happening.
yeah, i enjoy my mixed group of friends too! its great being in such a mixed racial culture la.
well, all we can do is wait for our turn to take over the country *evil laugh* then our dreams might just come true!
to me, they were just trying to *publicize to the world but *NOT* in implementing the spirit.
